Jan Rees has 30 years’ experience as a foster carer and is the co-founded Foster Care Associates (FCA) with Jim Cockburn in 1994. Jan has been the driving force behind the Rees, The Care Leavers Foundation and is creating a long-lasting legacy for children in care and for life after care.
Rupert Bertie is Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees. He has 28 years of social work and senior management experience in the local authority and independent sector. Rupert developed a charitable organisation to meet the need of care leavers and is a Consultant to the Board of Directors for the Core Assets Group.
Charlotte Thornton-Smith is a solicitor and partner at Harrison Clark Rickerbys, specialises in corporate law and heads the firm’s Health and Social Care team. Charlotte works with social care operators and is also a member of the care and support committee of Midland Heart.
Andrea Warman is Chair of the Board of Trustees. She worked as a children’s social worker before completing a PhD in social anthropology. Andrea taught social workers, published for the Family Policy Studies Centre and Thomas Coram and then worked as a Fostering Development Consultant for BAAF. She is now a freelance consultant working for NAFP and A National Voice.
Estella Abraham is CEO of Key Assets and heads up international developments. She is responsible for the international corporate team, Core Assets research initiatives and the company’s strategic development. Estella is a qualified social worker with over 30 years’ experience of working with children and families in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Ian Thomas is a care-experienced adult working in a fostering service. He has a background of substance misuse and youth offending. Ian supports youth through empowerment not punishment while learning constructively through life’s lessons and consequences.
