Some A2R Guides are qualified Social Workers and are available on request. These may be useful for more complex situations.
The A2R Service
Guides will support CEP through virtual sessions as they explore the content and meaning of the information made available through the Access to Records process. The Guides give emotional support which is attuned to the impact of reading records from childhood. Guides will encourage and support appropriate self-care and accessing additional support services when required. Face to face sessions with Guides may be available at an additional cost.
The Guides are non-judgmental, impartial in their advice and confidential (subject to the usual safeguarding boundaries).
Our service will work to provide the right Guide for each CEP, and to facilitate sessions to suit the individual. Guides will also help to facilitate communication between the CEP and the LA.
Those who sign up for 4 or more A2R sessions will be entitled to one year of our Ask Jan Membership, which offers a wide range of counselling and advice services.
