Financial Assistance

We are keen to assist care experienced people in developing good budgeting and financial management skills so please do not hesitate to speak to one of our support workers in confidence.
IMPORTANT – Please read carefully before applying for financial assistance

  • As part of our charity’s responsible giving policy, we do need to verify your current or former care status therefore you will be required to give us details of who we can speak to regarding this, we will always act with sensitivity and in confidence.
  • Please also be aware that the Charity has a limited set of funds to award grants, we need to ensure that those who are in greatest need benefit from them.  Our dedicated support team are obliged to undertake a basic financial assessment of all applicants which may require applicants to submit copies of their bank statements.
  • To minimise cash payments we will always try to purchase the goods or services you need. Only in exceptional circumstances will we make cash payments and we then respectfully request that you let us have copies of the receipts from your purchases for our records.
  • If you are still eligible for support from the Local Authority Leaving Care Team then we will, wherever possible, help you to access that support where appropriate.
  • It is important that you read our Grant Making Policy, as, by requesting financial support, you are agreeing to the Charity’s Terms and Conditions.

Crisis Payments

We aim to help care experienced people who find they are in financial crisis. You can apply for a small crisis payment to help out in an emergency for things like gas, electric or essential travel costs and, if short of food, we may be able to provide grocery gift vouchers. To ensure that crisis support funds help as many people as possible, there is a limit on the number of applications that will be considered and financial assistance is not guaranteed. However, our support workers are always on hand to try and help you through your crisis in other ways.
