This training course provides Personal Advisers and all practitioners supporting care-experienced young people with the knowledge and understanding needed to guide them through the process of accessing their care records.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for Personal Advisers and all practitioners supporting care-experienced young people, including social workers, leaving care teams, youth workers, foster carers, and voluntary-sector professionals who may assist young people in accessing their care records and navigating the emotional and practical challenges of the process.
Course Objectives
- Gain a clear understanding of the legal context surrounding the accessing records process.
- Learn about the key messages from research and best practice recommendations.
- Reflect on the personal experiences of care-experienced individuals who have undertaken this process
- Explore strategies and tools to provide sensitive, informed support, helping people navigate the process safely and confidently while addressing potential emotional and psychological impacts.
