What is the Imagination Library?Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book-gifting charity for young children aged 0-5. Dolly was inspired to set up her Imagination Library as a tribute to her father, a smart and hard-working man who was unable to read or write. Dolly wants to guarantee access to books, inspire a life-long love of reading and help children reach their full potential.
|
How does it work?Only parents or grandparents who have lived experience of being in care are eligible to register their children or grandchildren for this project.
All children enrolled in the Imagination Library receive a book in the post every month until their fifth birthday. Every book is personally addressed to each individual child. All titles in the Imagination Library are published by Penguin Random House and carefully selected by a panel of experts in early childhood literacy. |
How much does it cost? The Dollywood Foundation UK (DWF) works with sponsors. Each Imagination Library sponsor funds the books and postage, currently £26 per child per year.
Dolly contributes through DWF for staff, administration of the programme and any other costs. Rees Foundation are acting as a sponsor and will cover the cost for all eligible children and grandchildren. |
